Physical therapy

Every child deserves to move through the world with confidence. Whether it’s balance, coordination, muscle strength, or gross motor skills, physical therapy helps kids build the foundation they need to run, jump, climb, and explore without limits.

For parents wondering, “Is this normal?”

For families feeling stuck in daily struggles with mobility.

For teachers, pediatricians, and caregivers looking for the right resources.

THERAPY SOUTH VALUES | human connection | excellence in care | authenticity | resilience in joy | teamwork

You’re Here for a Reason.
Let’s Figure Out What Comes Next.

. . . Maybe your child is constantly tripping or struggling with stairs.

Physical therapy (PT) at Therapy South helps kids develop strength, coordination, endurance, and balance so they can move with ease and confidence.

Whether it’s improving walking patterns, jumping, climbing, or overall stability, our job is to make movement easier, safer, and more fun for your child.

Whatever brought you here, we see you. We’ve got you.

. . . Maybe they can’t quite keep up with their peers on the playground.

. . . Maybe they tire out quickly, avoid movement, or feel unsteady on their feet.

So, let’s start with this:

✔ This isn’t just about exercise. It’s about building skills that support daily life.

✔ This isn’t just about today. It’s about creating a strong foundation for the future.

✔ You don’t have to do this alone. We’re here to guide you every step of the way.

little victories matter.

You’ve started noticing little things—difficulty keeping up with peers, frequent falls, uncoordinated movements, or struggles with stairs and playground activities.

You’re not sure if they’ll grow out of it or need extra support, but you want to be sure.

PT helps kids move with confidence.

You’ve heard “they’ll grow out of it” more times than you can count.

But your child still struggles with balance, coordination, or keeping up with other kids.

PT helps bridge the gap between frustration and progress.

We don’t just focus on movement—we look at why movement is hard, addressing muscle tone, endurance, and coordination so your child can move with ease and confidence.

You’ve done PT before. Your child has made progress.

But new challenges are showing up, and you need fresh strategies.

PT evolves as your child grows.

As kids develop, their needs change. We refine their skills, reinforce progress, and provide new tools to help them level up their strength, mobility, and coordination.

You’re seeing it in the classroom—

kids struggling with posture, coordination, endurance, or movement-based activities.

PT provides tools for success—in and out of the classroom.

Whether it’s classroom accommodations, motor development strategies, or direct referrals, we work with teachers, pediatricians, and other providers to create an environment where every child can move, play, and learn successfully.

We see the whole child.

Therapy isn’t just about checking developmental boxes. It’s about helping kids thrive—in ways that actually matter to them.

We make it make sense.

We explain the “why” behind everything we do, so you walk away with real understanding, not just a to-do list.

We listen to you.

We don’t just focus on what the charts say—we focus on what’s hard for you and your child every day.

We mix science with play.

Kids learn best when they’re engaged, moving, and having fun—so we make sure therapy actually feels like that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Don't see your question? Get in touch with us—we'd love to help!

01

How do I know if my child needs PT?

If you’re here, chances are something isn’t feeling quite right—whether it’s gross motor skills, balance, coordination, or movement challenges making daily life harder than it should be. If you’re unsure, that’s okay! We’ll guide you through an evaluation to determine if PT is the right fit.

02

What happens during an evaluation?

The evaluation is our chance to get to know your child, their strengths, and their challenges. We’ll ask you questions about daily movement, observe your child’s mobility and coordination, and do structured activities to assess their needs. Think of it as a collaborative process—we’re here to listen, not just test.

03

What does an PT session look like?

Every session is tailored to your child’s unique needs, but it might include:

✔ Strength and endurance activities
✔ Balance and coordination exercises
✔ Core strengthening
✔ Functional movement practice

Most importantly, it’s fun! Therapy doesn’t feel like work—it feels like play, but with a purpose.

04

How often will my child need PT?

This depends on your child’s needs. Some children benefit from weekly sessions, while others may come twice a week or less frequently as they gain independence. We’ll create a plan that makes sense for your family.

05

Do I need to be in the sessions?

Your level of involvement depends on what works best for you. Some parents love to be hands-on and ask lots of questions (hi, Knowledge Seekers!). Others have packed schedules and need practical takeaways (shoutout to our Loving Jugglers!). Either way, we’ll meet you where you are—but the more involved you are, the more we can help you integrate skills at home.

06

How long does therapy last? When will my child be discharged?

Our goal is always progress and independence, not just keeping kids in therapy forever. We’ll talk about discharge from the first session so you have a clear idea of long-term goals. Every child’s timeline is different, but we’ll continuously assess progress and adjust accordingly.

07

What if I don’t think my child needs PT?

If you’re feeling skeptical (we see you, Curious Skeptics!), we get it. Not every child needs therapy, and if we determine that your child is on track, we’ll tell you that. But if there are skills that could help them long-term, we’ll explain why—without pressure, just facts.

08

Will my insurance cover PT?

Coverage depends on your plan. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your benefits. If you need help navigating this, our team is happy to assist!
